Most dishwashers are connected to water, drainage, power, and surrounding cabinetry. Haul-away normally starts after those connections and mounting points have been safely released.
Built-in means attached
Confirm that the unit can slide fully out of the opening. New flooring installed in front of an older dishwasher can create a lip that traps the machine below the countertop.
Check for water before the crew arrives
Empty the racks and filter area, run or drain standing water if the machine still operates, and place an absorbent towel nearby. A small amount of residual water may remain in hoses even after disconnection.
Report an active leak or damaged shutoff valve before pickup. A removal crew is not a substitute for emergency plumbing work.
Protect the finished kitchen
Clear the floor from the dishwasher to the exterior door. Remove mats, pet bowls, and movable chairs. Photograph tight cabinet edges, islands, or thresholds that may affect the route.
Ask whether the crew brings floor protection and a compact dolly. The right equipment matters more than trying to muscle the unit across a finished floor.
Pickup-readiness checklist

- Unit slides free of cabinetry
- Standing water addressed
- Exit path cleared
Next step
Use the checklist to gather the job details, then review the companion dishwasher removal service page. Call only after utility and installation questions are settled.
